Va. County Rehires Equipment Chief

Chris Allison became the new Equipment Bureau chief at Arlington County, Va., effective Dec. 9, 2013. He returns to the position, which he held between 2009 and 2011, after two years of serving as the assistant director of operations for the Department of Vehicle Services at Fairfax County, Va.

Allison replaces Allen Mitchell, who retired Nov. 1.

Allison said his goals at the county fleet will be to focus on productivity and shop efficiency, continuously evaluate opportunities for the transition of alternative-fuel vehicles into the fleet, and succession planning. Current project include a new data management system, upgrade of the maintenance facility HVAC system, and installation of vehicle tracking units.

The Arlington County fleet consists of more than 1,200 units.
