MARANA, AZ - After take-home vehicles were halted earlier this year, the Town of Marana Police Department first-line officers who live within the town limits were allowed to resume taking their police vehicles home in mid-November.

MARANA, AZ - After take-home vehicles were halted earlier this year, the Town of Marana Police Department first-line officers who live within the town limits were allowed to resume taking their police vehicles home in mid-November, according to The Explorer.

The ban was part of the Town's budget-reduction strategies and included emergency response employees. The policy change affects 32 officers who live within the town's limits.

A high-speed chase and consequent crash earlier in November brought this issue to the forefront, proving that officers needed to be able to respond rapidly when on-duty officers were overwhelmed, the newspaper reported.
