TITUSVILLE, FL – The City of Titusville’s police department has a new mobile command vehicle, a 2010 Ford F-650 diesel truck. The custom rear bed section was built by Pride Enterprises of Daytona Beach, Fla.

The department said it plans to deploy the vehicle in a range of situations, including violent crimes, crisis negotiations, public outreach and crime prevention events like National Night Out, and large crowd functions. In addition, the department plans to use it as an emergency operations center. The vehicle is designed to accommodate federal guidelines on Incident Command Structure.

The department funded the vehicle’s purchase with forfeiture funds (money seized from criminals) in the amount of $137,000. ”This is money seized from criminals that has been put back into the community to benefit our citizens,” said Chief Tony Bollinger.

Titusville's mobile command vehicle provides the following features:

  • Four work stations, equipped with a radio and computer access.

  • High-definition camera mounted on a 27-ft. telescopic pole for aerial views of scenes.

  • HDTV receiver for live news and weather feeds

  • Four-seat conference room/crisis negotiation table

  •  Video/audio feeds that interface to other agency equipment (BCSO bomb robot)

  • Bathroom facility, kitchenette, and a 42 gallon water tank

  • Whelen LED scene lights that do not attract insects due to the LED light spectrum
