The North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG) is offering $2.5 million in grant funding for public and private fleets to modernize, improve vehicle efficiency, and improve air quality. The council is accepting applications for funding through the Clean Fleets North Texas 2015 program until Oct. 23. Fleets with operations in the 10-county Dallas-Fort Worth ozone non-attainment area can apply.
The project provides grant funding of up to 80% for projects. Project types eligible for grant funding include a qualifying new purchase, replacement, repower, retrofit, engine conversion, or installation of idle reduction technologies on school buses. Funded projects must achieve a reduction in NOx emissions; light-duty and heavy-duty on-road vehicles are eligible. Applicants must adopt the Clean Fleet Policy prior to the application deadline.
