Snohomish County Begins Pilot Program to Evaluate Hybrid Technology
SNOHOMISH COUNTY, WA – Snohomish County has taken delivery of three Toyota Priuses and two Ford Escape hybrids as a pilot program to evaluate hybrid technology. The county has provided technician training on the Toyotas and intends to obtain Ford training when it is available, according to Allen Mitchell, Snohomish County fleet manager.
SNOHOMISH COUNTY, WA – Snohomish County has taken delivery of three Toyota Priuses and two Ford Escape hybrids as a pilot program to evaluate hybrid technology. The county has provided technician training on the Toyotas and intends to obtain Ford training when it is available, according to Allen Mitchell, Snohomish County fleet manager. The county has also received a grant from the Puget Sound Clean Air Agency for retrofitting 18 truck tractors and eight sweepers with oxidation catalysts to get ahead of the curve on 2007 mandatory requirements. The retrofit will be accomplished by the end of September 2005, said Mitchell.
