The fleet manager with the City of Eugene, Ore., is working with the city to find a replacement for his position, after retiring in December.

Tony Jobanek, the city's fleet and radio communications manager, has held the position since 2007. At the City of Eugene, he was responsible for leading the procurement, maintenance, and disposal of all vehicles in the city fleet.

"I have been so fortunate to be part of a team that provides the professional fleet and radio services for the vehicles, equipment, and radio systems our customer departments require for their mission-critical operations," Jobanek said.

During his time at the City of Eugene, Jobanek led the fleet team to recognition as one of the 100 Best Fleets for the past four years, achieving seven years as an ASE Blue Seal shop, and obtaining an Eco Biz certified fleet operation. All fleet technicians are ASE-certified, with 90% at the master technician level.

"My ability to lead the ever-evolving municipal fleet demands for the City of Eugene was not possible without the help of the many professional public fleet managers who I have gotten to know and learned from at the Government Fleet Expo & Conference and other fleet venues over the course of the past five years," Jobanek said.

The fleet consists of more than 1,100 pieces of fleet equipment, including 680 on-road motorized vehicles of all classes. He also oversaw the maintenance of more than 1,900 pieces of communication equipment used at remote communications sites.

Interested candidates for the fleet manager position should visit the city's website, and apply online by Feb. 14. The city expects to hire a new fleet manager by the end of March.
