Kelly Reagan was named the 2016 Public Sector Fleet Manager of the Year at the Government Fleet Expo & Conference on June 21 during The Honors Celebration. Reagan, fleet administrator for the City of Columbus, Ohio, was chosen among three finalists for the award.

Bill Griffiths, the 2015 Fleet Manager of the Year, presented the award to Reagan, who emphasized the importance of fleet staff.

"Continue to be a servant leader," Reagan said. "Include everyone in your shop. They're critical to your success. Make them feel special. They make you what you are today."

A panel of judges consisting of fleet managers from around the country reviewed each candidate in 10 categories: business plan, technology implementation, productivity, policies, preventive maintenance program, utilization management, replacement program, customer service, fuel management, and safety.

In addition to excelling in these categories, Reagan helped build the Ohio Chapter of the Municipal Equipment Maintenance Association (MEMA-OH), which aims to connect local fleets and allow them to learn from one another, incorporate training, and encourage best practices. The association has grown to 150 members.

Reagan was also a 2015 finalist for the award.

The Columbus fleet consists of about 6,350 vehicles. The Public Fleet Manager of the Year award is sponsored by General Motors.
