PROVIDENCE, RI -- A Providence city employee is in hot water after being accused of misusing a city vehicle, according to the Associated Press. The employee has been suspended without pay for allegedly allowing a non-licensed driver to use a city van and a city gasoline card. He has not been charged by police. The employee works in the traffic engineering department. He was hired in 1998. Police on drug patrol became aware of the problem when they spotted a woman driving a city van whom they knew wasn't a city employee. The woman said the employee had given the van to her. Police said she also had a city gasoline card in her possession.
