Through the Greater Indiana Law Enforcement Hybridization/Electrification Project, more than 40 police departments in central and northern Indiana are working to replace aging equipment and vehicles in their existing fleets. The departments have teamed up with Greater Indiana and the Drive Electric Indiana program — a statewide program seeking the electrification of transportation — to evaluate electric and hybrid police vehicles to reduce fuel and maintenance costs, enhance uptime, and decrease tailpipe emissions.

The Greater Indiana team organized a ride and drive education event for the participating law enforcement agencies and a dozen other departments interested in learning more about electric and hybrid police vehicles. The event included traditional law enforcement product vendors, static vehicle exhibits from Ford and Tesla, in addition to some drivable demo vehicles. The Bargersville Police Department also brought its Tesla Model 3.
