In addition to cutting 500 vehicles from the city's 6,000-unit fleet, other proposed cost-cutting measures included reducing the city's 23,757-person workforce by 250 positions and calling for all city employees to take one voluntary furlough day, a measure that would save $4.1 million, reported the Times.
Nutter announced the measures last week during his proposal to temporarily raise city sales and property taxes in efforts to fill the city's budget gap.
