The Ohio chapter of the Municipal Equipment Maintenance Association (MEMA-OH) held its first meeting on Jan. 16 in Dublin, bringing together 35 members.

"Our meeting was a smashing success," said Kelly Reagan, chapter chair of MEMA-OH and fleet administrator at the City of Columbus. "I am confident that we will continue to grow our MEMA chapter as we integrate training and provide other opportunities to work together."

The Columbus City Council endorsed the formation of the Ohio chapter of MEMA as it aligns with the Mayor Michael Coleman's "shared services" initiative. Membership will also allow public entities to formalize and enhance regional cooperation for fleet professionals throughout the state. Members consist of area fleet professionals as well as Clean Fuels Ohio. Reagan said the chapter now has 42 members.

In addition to Reagan, chapter board members include: Darryl Syler, vice chairman, City of Dublin fleet manager; John King, treasurer, City of Columbus fleet operations manager; Jim Durand, secretary, Ohio State University, Center for Automotive Research (CAR) research specialist; and Scott Perry, sergeant at arms, Solid Waste Authority of Central Ohio, senior landfill and equipment manager.

The next meeting, planned for March, will be held at Ohio State University.
