NYC Grows Fleet for First Time in Six Years
The New York City vehicle fleet grew for the first time in six years, adding 1,445 units of mostly non-road equipment to reach 27,300 pieces of fleet vehicles and equipment as of June 30.

The New York City vehicle fleet grew for the first time in six years, adding 1,445 units of mostly non-road equipment to reach 27,300 pieces of fleet vehicles and equipment as of June 30.
The greatest increase came in the category of trailers, moveable light towers, emergency light towers, and sign boards on wheels. The city also replaced 600 vehicles that had been damaged during Hurricane Sandy, reports the New York Post.
The increase represents a 5% increase from fiscal-year 2013 and the first increase since 2008, when the city's Department of Citywide Administrative Services managed 29,831 units. The city now maintains 580 vehicles in its "fast fleet" motor pool that provides rides to city workers in lieu of a fleet vehicle.
