Some of the 11 new smart cars that will be used by the City of Norfolk, Va.,'s Department of Parking.
The City of Norfolk, Va.’s Department of Parking is replacing 11 older vehicles with 11 smart cars during the first week of April. The vehicles cost $141,000, according to the City and were paid for via the City’s parking fund, which the City said doesn’t use taxpayer dollars.
The vehicles being replaced include golf cats and three-wheel Cushman carts purchased during the 1970s and 1980s. The City said these vehicles cost more than $38,000 to maintain due to their age. The City intends to auction them and return any proceeds to the parking fund.
