Sandoval County, N.M., has authorized a $3.6 million loan to finance new solid waste vehicles, fleet vehicles, and IT equipment, the Rio Rancho Observer reported. The county owns 699 vehicles and pieces of equipment, some of which are 20 years old.
Its Public Works Department will determine which vehicles need to replaced and which need to be moved to other departments to improve utilization.
The loan term is for five years, and the city will repay it using gross receipts taxes, according to county commission documents.
Government fleet sales rose from both January and February monthly totals, which were both under 20,000.
