The City of Kingston, N.Y., plans to make changes to its municipal fleet management program and update its greenhouse gas emissions inventory thanks to a new grant from the state, reports Hudson Valley One.

N.Y. state officials announced the allocation of $20.2 million in grants for businesses and governments at an annual event, according to the Times Herald-Record. The City of Kingston received $3.3 million in awards for various projects, including $50,000 to hire an environmental asset manager.

This new position will be created to help the city reach its energy reduction goals. The manager will design, develop, and implement new protocols for the municipal fleet management program and update the city's 2010 greenhouse gas emissions inventory.
