Mass. City Names Facilities and Fleet Director

Mark Champagne will oversee 90 of the City of New Bedford's buildings, its vehicle fleet, and the collection and disposal of solid waste, recyclables, and yard waste.

The City of New Bedford, Mass., has named Mark Champagne its Director of Facilities and Fleet Management. Champagne previously served as the Superintendent of Facilities, Construction and Maintenance for the Department of Facilities and Fleet Management.

The Director of Facilities and Fleet Management oversees the capital needs of more than 90 city buildings and the city’s vehicle fleet. The department is also responsible for managing the collection and disposal of solid waste, recyclables and yard waste, and the daily operations of the city’s transfer station, among other responsibilities.

The city’s outgoing director Kenneth F. Blanchard retired on June 30. Blanchard worked in the city for more than 30 years, and has lead the Facilities and Fleet Department for the past five years.

Champagne brings along experience in property management and construction. Before joining the city in 2014, Champagne was president of Allied Property Solutions, a firm offering general contracting, construction management, and real estate services.
