Maryland Transportation Authority Police Lose Take Home Vehicle Case
ANNAPOLIS, MD – The Maryland Transportation Authority (MdTA) Police Lodge #34 lost a court case that would have forced State officials to provide them with take-home vehicles.
ANNAPOLIS, MD – The Maryland Transportation Authority (MdTA) Police Lodge #34 have lost their bid to force State officials to provide them with take-home vehicles as part of an agreement made during the previous Governor Robert Ehrlich’s administration, according to court documents (you can read the entire decision here).
The Fraternal Order of Police Lodge argued that the take-home vehicles were part of officers’ compensation packages, but the court found the agreement between the police and the MdTA to be unenforceable.
According to the court’s decision, because the State legislature did not authorize the MdTA and its employees to bargain collectively when the agreement was made, the contract is unenforceable.
