The City of Madison, Wis., is building a $32.8 million fleet/fire/radio shop facility. Construction is expected to start in 2019, with move-in scheduled for 2020.
The new facility will allow the city to consolidate three facilities. Two additional garages will remain as satellite shops, said Mahanth Joishy, fleet service superintendent.
The facility will house light, medium, and heavy vehicle service and repair spaces for the city’s fleet of public safety, police, emergency vehicles, public works vehicles and equipment, fire apparatus, and other service automobiles, trucks, and equipment. The area of this building will be around 110,000 square feet.
The city’s goal is to obtain a Silver Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Certification from the U.S. Green Building Council.
