Louisville Rolls Out GPS Tracking to City Fleet
The City of Louisville, Ky., is installing GPS units in 481 cars and trucks to reduce idling time and improve maintenance by more quickly identifying vehicles that need service.

The City of Louisville, Ky., is installing GPS units in 481 cars and trucks to reduce idling time and improve maintenance by more quickly identifying vehicles that need service. The technology also allows the city to inform residents about the location of snow plows during snow removal initiatives.
Mayor Greg Fischer made the announcement on July 31 from a city fleet garage, reports WLKY.
The devices weill be installed at Fleet Services, Metro Parks, Public Works, Codes and Regulations, Emergency Medical Services, and Louisville Forward. The city has signed a contract with Verizon NetworkFleet.
