Leitner Designs has revealed a “Police Package” for law enforcement pickup trucks. Co-developed with the Placentia, California Police Department, the Leitner Designs Police Package is designed to withstand the rigors of law enforcement duty.
A Pursuit-Rated Modular Cargo System
The Leitner Designs Active Cargo System (ACS) FORGED is capable of withstanding 4.0g of both lateral and longitudinal force, according to a press release. For perspective, a modern police vehicle generates less than 1.0g in emergency braking. ACS FORGED can safely carry up to a 400-lb load at 4.0g and up to an 800-lb load at 1.0g.
Formed from FORGED aluminum, the 85-pound ACS FORGED punches well above its weight. With a 1,400-pound static and 800-pound dynamic load rating, the ACS FORGED includes features such as the lockable eye-level storage (GearPODS) and sliding rear load bar.
“When it comes to police vehicles, we need gear that is going to last. We knew Leitner Designs’ ACS FORGED looked the part, but we didn’t know how it would hold up to the extreme conditions of law enforcement,” said Placentia Police Captain Brian Perry. “After several months of severe duty, I can confidently say that not only has the ACS FORGED held up, it made police work easier.”
The Police Package includes Active Cargo System (ACS) FORGED bed rack, standard GearPOD, the extra-large GearPOD XL, and HydroPOD that holds 4.8 gallons of pressurized water and the HeadBANGER that prevents in-bed loads from colliding with the rear cab glass.
The modular design of ACS FORGED allows agencies to customize the Police Package to suit their unique requirements from Leitner Designs’ ever-growing line of accessories, including the universal Light Bracket and universal Antenna Bracket. A universal T-slot design, ACS FORGED can accept any number of common law enforcement accessories, like lights, sirens, and antennas, etc.
ACS FORGED Feature Highlights:
Patented sliding load bar — Allows users to load large items in the truck bed with a twist of a knob without removing the rack.
Available integrated GearPODs — Provide locking, waterproof and dust-resistant storage within easy reach. The GearPODs follow vehicle bodylines, reducing wind noise down, and giving the system a seamless look.
Custom black fasteners — The grade 10.9 fasteners are especially designed and manufactured just for the ACS FORGED. The Black Zi-Ni coating is the toughest on the market and each bolt is precoated with Loctite to prevent loosening under extreme vibration.
