Lackawanna County Purchases Hybrids, Prisoner Transport Vehicles
SCRANTON, PA – The county commissioners for Lackawanna County, Pa. have approved the purchase of new Ford Fusion hybrids in addition to a number of other vehicles.
SCRANTON, PA – The county commissioners for Lackawanna County, Pa. have approved the purchase of new Ford Fusion hybrids in addition to a number of other vehicles, according to county documents. Other vehicles include a dump truck and a pickup truck for Roads and Bridges, a prisoner transport van and five Chevrolet Impalas for the Sheriff’s Dept.
According to GoLackawanna.com, the county purchased 10 new hybrids in 2009, which the Deputy Director for Purchasing Jim McLaine said saved a significant amount of money. The funding will come from $500,000 set aside in the capital budget, funds from the sale of a vehicle, and insurance money from totaled county vehicles.
