The City of Port Allen, Louisiana, budget is under debate as city officials decide whether a car wash facility is necessary. City council members rejected a proposed budget from Mayor Richard Lee that included a $70,000 car wash facility for fleet vehicles, reports The Advocate.
According to Advocate, Mayor Lee recently called the city fleet deplorable due to lack of equipment. Currently, the Department of Public Works uses a 10-year-old pressure washer, but does not use soap, wax, or vacuums. One council member stated that water won’t affect whether the vehicles run, and a water hose should be adequate.
