Ky. Fleet Employees Disciplined Over Missing Tire Funds

The Ashland City Board of Commissioners closed an investigation into $143,000 worth of tire expenditures that were unaccounted for. Three city employees have been placed on six months of probation, though the city does not believe the three engaged in criminal activity themselves, reported the Daily Independent.
The investigation began in late 2015 after a financial audit revealed $143,000 of unaccounted tires for fiscal-year 2014. Former City Maintenance Garage Supervisor Joseph Burliss was indicted for the missing funds, but died before the trial took place.
Two of the disciplined employees were supervisors of Burliss. The third was the garage parts clerk who worked with Burliss.
