The City of Jacksonville, Fla., is tightening security of its city fleet license plates and fleet compound after a fleet employee was charged with theft of a license plate.
An investigation by the Office of Inspector General (OIG) found a fleet crew leader had driven a personal vehicle with a fleet license plate to work twice in late 2016. The State Attorney’s Office charged the employee with theft of the city license plate. The crew leader signed a deferred prosecution agreement that required the completion of 20 hours of community service and payment of $650 in court costs.
