Houston City Council approved a $2 million contract with E-One for maintenance and repair of E-One fire trucks. The contract covers OEM replacement parts and repair services for three years, with two one-year options.
The contract would provide services for 71 E-One trucks, which comprise a portion of the city's fire equipment fleet, according to city documents. But a source within the Houston Professional Firefighters Association told Click2Houston that only 12 of the trucks covered by this contract are front-line units. The rest are kept as reserves.
The Fire Department has had to deal with an aging fleet. Earlier this year, Fire Chief Samuel Pena asked the city for $10.9 million for fleet replacement funding.
