The Wilmington (Del.) Housing Authority has turned to Enterprise Fleet Management for leased vehicles to reduce operational costs by more than $25,000 per year, the fleet management company has announced.

The authority hopes to reduce its fleet to 38 vehicles from 44 vehicles. Enterprise Fleet Management will provide 38 cargo vans, pickup trucks, and mid-size sedans for use by the authority's maintenance and management personnel.

The shift comes after an analysis by Enterprise Fleet that included suggestions to improve management of the vehicles. The new strategy includes downsizing the fleet and introducing sevearl different models. The new vehicles provide better fuel economy and lower emissions. They will also reduce maintenance costs.

"With this fleet refresh, Enterprise will help us more reliably service the buildings we manage, while at the same time significantly reduce our fleet costs and carbon footprint," said Frederick Purnell, the authority's executive director.

The authority uses funding from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development to develop and manage affordable housing for low-income families in Wilmington. About 10% of the city's population lives in the housing.

As a result, the new strategy includes downsizing the fleet and introducing several different vehicle models. The new vehicles have better fuel economy and lower emissions; they also require less maintenance. - See more at: https://www.enterpriseholdings.com/press-room/housing-authority-partnering-with-enterprise-fleet-management-to-cut-costs-save-25k-annually.html#sthash.HNkMnayn.dpuf
