Hawaii to Receive Long-Awaited Patrol Vehicles

The Hawaii Police Department will take delivery of 10 new Ford Explorer Police Interceptor Utility vehicles in the next two months, its first marked vehicles to be added to the county-owned fleet in about a decade, West Hawaii Today reported. The vehicles cost $615,000.
The county first acquired marked patrol cars in 2008-2009, purchasing 33 sedans and SUVs to supplement use of officers’ private vehicles. Twenty-seven of these are still in service.
