The Hawaii Police Department is looking to purchase its first patrol vehicles in 10 years to replace a fleet that averages 200,000 miles, the Hawaii Tribune Harold reported.

A decade ago, the department bought its first marked patrol cars to supplement its officer-owned vehicles, purchasing 35 2008-MY vehicles for $2 million. Those vehicles are now so aged they present a liability issue. The PD has $600,000 in this year’s budget to purchase 10 new vehicles, the newspaper reported.
