DEARBORN, MI - Out of 160,000 total government sales in the 2006-CY, Ford sold more than 50,000 Crown Victoria Police Interceptors, according to Tony Gratson, Ford's government sales manager.
The 50,000-unit milestone marked the Crown Vic's highest sales over the past five years, growing by more than 20 percent - 10 percent in the past year alone, matching last year's total government industry growth.
"Reasons for the Crown Victoria's growth include it is the only policecar built on a frame, which makes it more durable; its 75 mph rear-end crash tested; and it has the largest interior and trunk space," said Gratson.
