ATLANTA – After an industry-wide competitive review, the State of Utah has awarded its contract for an electronic fuel dispensing system network to FleetCor once again. FleetCor has been providing its networked fleet fuel management service to the State of Utah for the past 16 years. Top considerations in awarding this new two-year contract included service capabilities, past performance, the number of sites in strategic locations, system security and pre-authorized controls. “More than 600 different state agencies including school districts and other partners such as local government entities benefit from this network,” said Jeff Done, fuel dispensing manager for the State of Utah. “Other suppliers were not able to provide FleetCor’s combination of controls and strategic coverage that the state needed in order to serve its fleet and reduce its fueling costs. FleetCor presented the most advantageous proposal to us.” FleetCor has 495 sites in the State of Utah that accept the State of Utah access card and this new contract’s impact on the state’s expenditures is quite significant. The State of Utah fuel network distributes more than 2 million gallons of fuel monthly to approximately 40,000 government owned-vehicles across the state and surrounding areas. In addition, the State of Utah also currently operates approximately 1200 Alternative Fuel Vehicles of which more than 200 run on the Compressed Natural Gas. The estimated annual consumption of alternative fuels is 200,000 gallons of Compressed Natural Gas and 15,000 gallons of all other alternative-fuel types. In addition to the State of Utah’s fuel dispensing system network, FleetCor also provides fleet card processing services for the States of Delaware, Tennessee, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Michigan, and the City of New York’s Police Department.
