CENTENNIAL, CO – A 23-year Arapahoe County employee is suing the county in federal court. William Davis, who spent the last 12 years as the county’s fleet services manager, said he was allegedly fired for blowing the whistle on wasteful spending, according to the Web site www.cbs4denver.com/. Davis said he received outstanding reviews annually until he started to complain that taxpayer money was being wasted. Davis accused his bosses of allegedly rigging the bidding process on trucks that haul snow and dirt, according to CBS4. As a result, he claimed a higher-priced company was getting contracts it should not have been. Davis also said he raised questions about safety issues before he was fired in 2004, according to CBS4. Davis filed his lawsuit against the county, according to the report. A county spokesperson was quoted by CBS4 as saying, “Both Mr. Davis and his supervisor were given the opportunity to present their position before a mutual fact finder, and ultimately it was determined that Mr. Davis could not support these allegations.” Davis was told by the county that he was fired for poor job performance, according to CBS4.
