Fleet professionals from across the public sector are coming together in Charlotte, North Carolina, as the 2025 Government Fleet Expo & Conference opens Tuesday, June 24. The day marks the official start of this year’s event, with a packed lineup that includes hands-on vehicle experiences, peer discussions, and recognition of the industry’s top performers.
Highlights from Opening Day
The day begins at 9 a.m. with the First Timers’ Orientation, hosted by BBM's Jeff Carter, offering new attendees a walkthrough of the event format and opportunities to connect with others navigating GFX for the first time. Even if you're not a new attendee this is still a great spot to see what's going on and introduce yourself to GFX first timers.

At 10 a.m., the GFX Block Party & Experience kicks off, transforming the Ride & Drive into an interactive, informal kickoff complete with vehicle demos, food, games, and a live DJ. Open to all Full Conference Fleet, Supplier, Exhibitor, and Sponsor pass holders, the event allows for hands-on exploration of new fleet technologies and direct interaction with vehicle manufacturers.

In-Depth Industry Insight
Following the Block Party, the OEM Showcase begins at 1 p.m., moderated by CDMB Consultants' Michael Brennan, with panelists from GM Envolve, Ford Pro, and Stellantis. Then, at 2:15 p.m., the Police OEM Showcase takes the stage, moderated by Jennifer Brown, facilities and fleet section director for the city of Flagstaff, Arizona.

Keynote: Lessons from a Lifetime in Fleet
At 4 p.m., industry veteran Larry Campbell, CPFP, takes the stage for the Industry Keynote Address. Drawing on 48 years in fleet—including three decades in public service—Campbell will share lessons on accountability, culture, and long-term leadership.

Recognizing Excellence and Building Connections
At 4:30 p.m., the Honors Celebration will spotlight this year’s award recipients, including the 2025 Public Sector Fleet Manager of the Year, Leading Fleets, and Legendary Lifetime Achievement honorees.
The day wraps up with the Opening Reception, followed by the informal Explore Charlotte outing—an opportunity for attendees to connect outside the convention center and experience the host city.
