The U.S. Attorney’s Office has settled a case with a South Dakota man accused of faking windshield repairs, billing the government for hundreds of thousands of dollars through his windshield repair business. In exchange for dismissing the civil case, Robert Rodney Bland will pay the government $26,650 in installments, the Argus Leader reported.
In 2019, Bland was charged with 18 counts of wire fraud and one account of theft of government property. He fraudulently billed for windshield rock chip repairs that were never done on General Services Administration vehicles, according to the U.S. Department of Justice.
