AUSTIN, TX- EV Autos of Texas has been awarded the Texas Term Contract for Miles Electric Vehicles. EV Autos, with offices in Mesquite and Austin, was the first stand-alone electric vehicle franchise dealer in Texas. They have many major clients including San Antonio Water Systems, University of Houston, City of McAllen and University of North Texas. UNT has just placed an order under the new state contract for seven electric vehicles.

"This is the boost that the electrification of the state fleets needed," said Leo Hinojosa, general manger for EV Autos. "This opens doors to our product by making it easier for procurement specialist to add electric vehicles to their fleets. We have crisscrossed the state from El Paso to Houston from Abilene to McAllen and many want to wait until we were on the state contract. In the first four days on the contract we issued invoices for 11 units totaling $198,000 in sales."

Other issues EV Autos were involved with this year was testifying on behave of SB 129.  Beginning Sept.1, Texas becomes the next state to raise the max speed of NEVs from 25 mph in a 35 mph zone to 35 mph in a 45 mph zone, thanks to Senate Bill 129 introduced by Senator Rodney Ellis (D) District 13 in Houston.

EV Autos began in Austin, Texas as a storefront retail franchise dealer 2007, for e-Ride industries and ZENN Motor Cars.  It changed ownership and has evolved into a fleet franchise store selling into LA, OK and TX. The company added Miles Electric Vehicle in 2008, and in 2009 expanded into representing Coulomb Technology ChargePoint SmartGrid Charging Stations in Texas and have also developed an electric vehicle conversion kit for cars and trucks up to ½ ton.
