Dearborn Considering Take-home Vehicle Ban, Fuel Card Use
DEARBORN HEIGHTS, MI – Dearborn Heights, Mich.’s City council is considering prohibiting take-home vehicles for City employees.
DEARBORN HEIGHTS, MI – Dearborn Heights, Mich.’s City council is considering prohibiting take-home vehicles for City employees except the mayor, police chief, and fire chief, according to an article in the Press and Guide.
Councilwoman Margaret Van Houten proposed the resolution, but the Council hasn’t come to a decision, and the City’s Mayor Dan Paletko opposed the concept, saying that take-home vehicle use in the City is currently for first responders and other employees who need to respond to emergency situations. He suggested a study of vehicle use before proceeding on the resolution.
In addition, Councilman Tom Berry suggested having City employees use fuel cards to better understand how they are using take-home vehicles.
