Counting Down Our Favorite GFX Moments

During the Night on the Town, GFX attendees explore the community with food, drinks, and camaraderie.

GFX is a great opportunity to connect (or reconnect) with fleet peers.

The Government Fleet Expo & Conference is the largest annual gathering of public sector fleet employees, offering educational training, networking opportunities with fleet managers and suppliers, and the annual awards show, where the achievements of the industry are celebrated. Plus, it’s fun. (Check out the 2020 schedule here).

With such a varied schedule, everyone has their own favorite part. We checked in with the Government Fleet team to count down their favorite GFX moments over the years:

Thi Dao is the executive editor for Government Fleet and show co-chair for GFX. She works with our events team to select the session topics, speakers, and other details for a well-rounded show experience. “My favorite part of GFX is the networking. After talking to so many fleet managers throughout the year via email and phone, I get to see them in person, and they get to see each other. There’s a certain camaraderie in this industry and you feel it at GFX.”

Roselynne Reyes, senior editor for Government Fleet, looks forward to meeting new people every year at the First Timers Orientation and opening reception. “GFX brings in people from all over. Last year I met a fleet team that came all the way from Hawaii! It’s all about making those connections and finding common ground.”

Every year, the industry gathers to celebrate its accomplishments at The Honors Celebration.

Eric Bearly has been a part of the GFX team since year one. He served as Government Fleet’s publisher and GFX’s show chair for a decade and is now the chief digital officer for Bobit Business Media, parent company of Government Fleet

“My favorite time every year is seeing those who have risked, innovated, and put in so much hard work recognized by the public fleet family during the Honors Celebration. But my favorite specific moment was connecting with new and old friends enjoying the Alamo Night on the Town in the San Antonio humidity with way too loud country music in the background.”

During the Block Party, attendees can test drive new vehicles, check out vehicles on display, and play games.

Bob Brown, regional sales manager, especially enjoys the Block Party, where attendees can test drive the latest vehicles. Last year, the Block Party included a live band, food trucks, and snowball station (a New Orleans-style frozen treat) for dessert.

Za Farley, regional sales manager, also enjoyed the New Orleans atmosphere last year. His favorite moment? “Jammin’ at the jazz joint during the 2019 Night on the Town,” he said.

GFX is a traveling show, taking place in a different venue every year. The Night on the Town is the perfect opportunity to network with the industry, but there is also plenty of time to enjoy the scenery before and after the event.

Kevin Bearly, sales representative for GFX, said his favorite moment took place after the opening reception at GFX San Diego in 2018, cruising in a boat on the San Diego Bay.

This year, GFX takes place in Anaheim, Calif., down the street from Disneyland and a short drive from Los Angeles. Learn more about this year’s event on the GFX website.
