The City of Columbus, Ohio, hosted emergency vehicle technician (EVT) certification testing on Nov. 9. Twenty-two technicians from Indiana, Pennsylvania, and various cities in Ohio participated in testing after a rigorous week of training at the Columbus facility, said Kelly Reagan, fleet administrator for the City of Columbus.
The exams were proctored by Columbus’ fire battalion chief. He is one of four employees approved to proctor EVT exams. The trainer is a board member for both the EVT Commission and the Ohio Association of Emergency Vehicle Technicians, and Reagan added that his pass rate is 80%.
“This is yet another example of our cooperative training and testing for nationally recognized certifications for our technicians on the floor,” Reagan said.
