ROCHESTER, MN - The City of Rochester will examine its take-home vehicle policy to determine whether the City can save money through mileage reimbursement, according to the Post-Bulletin.

An exact count of city vehicles issued to employees, and an accounting of their use, was not immediately available, but the Police Department, Fire Department, Building Safety Department, and Park and Recreation Department, among others, have vehicles.

Arguments were made on both sides. For example, some Park Department managers take home City vehicles during storm season or year-round for emergency calls. It was reported that the Mayor drives his personal vehicle to meetings and turns in a mileage report for reimbursement, according to the newspaper.
