City of Fayetteville to Switch to B-20 Biodiesel for Municipal Fleet

FAYETTEVILLE, AR – Fayetteville has begun transitioning its diesel fleet to B-20, according to the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette. The City Council Equipment Committee has approved going out to bid on new fuel tanks and pumps that will be installed at the city’s fleet yard. The plan is to begin using B-20 within the next six months in the city’s 200 diesel vehicles. The bid includes a 15,000-gallon tank for petro-diesel, a 6,000-gallon tank for gasoline, and a 10,000-gallon tank for biodiesel, according to the report. The bid also includes pumps that will blend the two types of diesel at the nozzle. City divisions will pay an extra 5 cents per gallon to cover the cost of the equipment.
