PITTSBURG, KS – The city of Pittsburg (Kan.) has developed a plan to sell its used vehicles over the Internet, according to the Morning Sun. This is a first for the city.
The Pittsburg City Commissioners approved the request by Director of Public Works Bill Beasley to sell a handful of vehicles on eBay. Pittsburg has seen other cities sell vehicles on the Internet and has been seeking advice from the city of Overland Park.
For the online auction, a minimum offering price would be set for each vehicle and the vehicle would not be sold unless the minimum price is met. If the city fails to sell on the Internet, it can reduce the minimum bid or sell locally.
