PORTSMOUTH, VA - The City of Portsmouth, Va., City Council agreed on August 24 to begin replacing an aging fleet of fire trucks, police cars, and other city vehicles after a two-year pause to save money, according to The Virginian-Pilot.
Council members voted to appropriate $4 million from the city garage fund balance for purchases. The fire department, police, waste management, sherriff, and stormwater are some departments in need of new vehicles, according to a city manager's report.
