OPELOUSAS, LA - The City of Opelousas adopted a standstill budget for the coming fiscal year that begins in September, which may include putting on hold the hiring of a fleet manager position by adopting a more stringent preventive maintenance policy, according to Daily World.
Citing budget constraints, Alderman Dale Pefferkorn put on hold the plan by Special Projects Administrator Darryl Wagley to create the fleet manager position to oversee about 200 motorized vehicles that make up the city's fleet, ranging from lawn mowers to heavy trucks. He said the city could save on vehicle operation and through preventive maintenance.
