In Government Fleet's Knowledge Sharing video series, Craig Croner, CPFP, administrative services manager for the City of Boise, Idaho, talks about not always having to be right, giving up control, and ensuring adequate training to prepare for the retirement of baby boomers.
Croner has been in the fleet industry for 31 years, 23 of which were in fleet management. He started his career as an entry-level farm mechanic. Some of his accomplishments at the city include implementing a consolidated fleet strategic plan within 18 months of joining the city and having a supporting role when the fleet was named the No. 1 Leading Fleet in the nation.
The Boise fleet maintains 1,300 assets and employs 12 ASE-certified technicians who work at three locations. Vehicles range from emergency vehicles to snow removal equipment to farm equipment.
