After a recent tragedy in Mt. Eden, Ky., that took the building, fleet, and equipment of the local volunteer fire department, Auto Truck Group and Ford Commercial Vehicles agreed to donate a fully upfitted 2015 Ford Expedition SSV unit to the station.
The fire, which occurred in August, required 50 firefighters from neighboring counties to put out and caused more than $1 million in damage.
After hearing about the tragedy, Auto Truck Group and Ford Commercial Vehicles worked together to upfit a new 2015 Ford Expedition SSV with extensive emergency lighting and siren equipment typically required of fire departments.
"Tragedy can happen to anyone, and we thank our associate for bringing this to our attention," said Jim Dondlinger, president of Auto Truck Group. "Especially in this season of giving, we are proud to give back to the community in any way that we can."
Delivering the truck on November 19 were Dondlinger; Dave Fish, production manager of Auto Truck's Louisville, Ky., facility; and several Auto Truck installation technicians donating their time and labor including Dean Leslie, James Milton, Daniel Ruffner, Brian Rapp, and Ryan Fish.
