A state audit of the Metropolitan Sewer District of Greater Cincinnati (MSDGC) resulted in a fleet reduction and creation of a motor pool. The Auditor of State’s Ohio Performance Team released the audit in February.
The utilization policy set by the city is 350 miles per month for passenger vehicles. Using this utilization policy of 4,200 miles annually, auditors found the city could reduce its fleet by six underutilized units, saving $47,900 per year in operating costs and providing a one-time revenue enhancement of $20,000. Using a higher utilization minimum of 12,000 miles annually would result in 75 underutilized vehicles.
