ATLANTA – The City of Atlanta has purchased 65 new pieces of equipment to ensure the City is better prepared to deal with winter weather, according to a news release from the City. Atlanta’s Mayor Kasim Reed had a press conference on Dec. 5 to show the new vehicles.
The City has purchased new equipment in order to better handle situations like the ice storm that occurred in January, 2011, according to an article in the Atlanta Journal Constitution. The article said the City spent $4 million on emergency response last January, far more than the $931,000 the City spent to purchase the new equipment.
