The City of Daleville, Ala., is considering adopting telematics to boost efficiency and productivity. Daleville's city council and water board have approved a trial period to test GPS tracking in its fleet, according to the Southeast Sun.

For the 90-day trial period, Daleville will outfit vehicles from three departments to test its effectiveness, including police, public works, and water services.

The tracking devices will collect and report vehicle data including speed, location, fuel efficiency, and idle time. At the end of the trial period, officials and supervisors will determine whether the project is cost-effective.
