2015 Public Fleet Overview
This overview delves into the operations of more than 200 fleets that responded to Government Fleet’s annual industry trends survey. Data includes outsourced services, budget changes, remarketing methods, and tool allowances.

This chart shows a profile of survey respondents and the public entities for which they work. The “other” category consists of special districts, transit agencies, fire divisions, and other uncategorized agencies.

This section features information from 236 fleets and includes information such as annual operating and capital budgets and how they’ve changed in the past year, services outsourced and whether that has changed, and remarketing methods. It also provides a profile of these fleets, including their population size, the type of agency they’re located in, and their customer departments.
Data collected from this survey suggests that operating budgets continue to increase this year, with more fleets reporting increases than the prior year. However, the vast majority of these increases were less than 5%. This year, Government Fleet also collected data about replacement budgets. These can change depending on vehicle replacement needs, but half of those with the highest reported budget increases said they were catching up after years of putting off replacing vehicles.
Data about remarketing practices suggests a continuing trend toward switching to online auctions.
