HAVERHILL, MA – The City of Haverhill installed an in-house fueling site in an effort to curb gasoline costs, according to The Eagle-Tribune Online. The pumps will only serve city vehicles. The $135,000 gas pumps were paid for with state money and are expected to save the city as much as $60,000 a year over the retail price for gas. The two pumps — which dispense diesel and unleaded gas — will be where police cruisers, fire engines, and Highway Department trucks fill up. The drivers of 100 municipal vehicles previously used city credit cards and passes to refuel at Mobil.
