Three public fleet industry veterans were honored at the 2019 Government Fleet Expo & Conference in New Orleans. The newest members of the Public Fleet Hall of Fame were recognized and invited to share their knowledge with the audience at the Honors Celebration on Tuesday evening.

The Public Fleet Hall of Fame is comprised of industry leaders and pioneers who have significantly contributed to the public fleet profession, as chosen by members of the industry via online voting. The award is sponsored by Sourcewell.

This year's inductees are:

  • Tim Calhoun, CAFM, fleet director, Palm Beach County Fire Rescue, Fla.
    Approximate Years in Fleet: 30
  • Al Curtis, fleet services director, Cobb County, Ga.
    Approximate Years in Fleet: 27
  • Ron Kennedy, CEM, CPFP, fleet manager, Sarasota County, Fla.
    Approximate Years in Fleet: 25

Each new inductee was given time to share remarks with the audience. Calhoun emphasized the importance of mentorships, and invited all fleet managers in attendance to take on mentors if the opportunity arises. Curtis discussed fleet technology, and the importance of adapting with the times. Kennedy thanked his team, the GFX communityn and his community of Florida fleet managers, and congratulated the other inductees.

Since its establishment in 2014, Government Fleet has inducted 34 fleet industry veterans into the Public Fleet Hall of Fame. View a full list of members here.
